Swamp Gas in Michigan
Dozens of people, including college students in a dorm, reported glowing lights over marshes. J. Allen Hynek said at a press conference that marsh gas was a possible cause for some reports. The press turned it into 'swamp gas,' and the public felt mocked. House Minority Leader Gerald Ford, who represented Michigan, called for a congressional inquiry.
