PURSUE: The 2026 File Releases
In February 2026 President Trump directed agencies to identify and declassify UFO and UAP files. The Department of War launched PURSUE (the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters) on May 8, 2026, with more than 150 files. Five more releases followed through September 18, 2026, drawing on the Pentagon, CIA, FBI, NASA, the Department of Energy, the State Department and others. Highlights include Apollo-era photos and transcripts, green orb reports near a military facility, an infrared video of objects near Iran, and a copy of the 1952 Tremonton film.
The ledger
What the record shows, what people say, and the best explanation available so far.
What's documented
- All releases are posted at war.gov/UFO with downloadable bundles.
What's claimed
- Proof of non-human visitors.
Best explanation so far
Officials said the files do not confirm extraterrestrial life and invited the public to draw its own conclusions. Skeptics noted much of the material was already public or showed ordinary effects. Many files are raw and unanalyzed, which makes them good practice for a friendly skeptic.
